Kevin Owens started on the WWE main roster with a bang, scoring a clean win over John Cena. But from there, Vince McMahon (and Kevin Dunn) seemed to lose interest in him. He was eventually deposited in the Intercontinental title spot, which translates to mid-card filler these days. But what's likely going on is WWE are waiting to move Owens up to the main event scene. The timing has to be right. They know he has great in-ring and mic ability, but they don't want to rush his progression. The correct time to elevate him would be when Roman Reigns is champion in 2016. It is a natural feud, the spiteful heel against the heroic babyface. WWE also prepared a feud for Owens with Seth Rollins, with the two men teasing tension before Rollins went out injured. Added to that is talk of Owens versus Brock Lesnar, which would likely go down at SummerSlam 2016. With potential feuds with Reigns, Rollins and Lesnar, next year is going to be huge for K.O. He could well end up with his first WWE Championship.
