10 WWE Stars Who Need To Turn In 2017
2. Sasha Banks
Sasha Banks is a shadow of the performer she was in NXT because she simply isn't suited to the face role.
WWE can't exactly be blamed for listening to their audience. Many fans criticise the company for doing the exact opposite, but they bucked a depressing, overarching trend when they listened to the constant clamouring of "We want Sasha!" and actually installed Banks as Charlotte's premier rival throughout 2016. Sadly, it didn't work out. Banks and Charlotte wrestled some fantastic matches on television, but their pay-per-view efforts were bloated. They buckled under the massive expectations placed upon them. The fact that Banks failed to break the table at the close of their Hell In A Cell main event was deeply ironic. Her act just didn't quite work in the face role, no matter how hard (and how frequently) it was attempted.
WWE should be applauded for their efforts, but they have been in vain. Banks as a babyface isn't a disaster in and of itself - but those chants of "We want Sasha!" were a request for the Sasha fans knew - not a lame reimagining as a typical, gutsy babyface.
This turn is in the works, at least. Even a straight, beat for beat rehash of the Banks Vs. Bayley rivalry is preferable to the insincere hero act Banks has been lumbered with on the main roster.
