10 WWE Superstars Who Are Being Totally Overlooked

Where did things go wrong for these potential top stars?

By Josh Wilding /

Since SmackDown moved to Fox, there's once again a hard split between WWE's three brands, and that gives the company's superstars more room to shine. Whether we're talking about Paul Heyman pushing wrestlers like Ricochet and Aleister Black on RAW or Finn Bálor's awesome return to NXT, WWE is making good use of its roster right now.

Well, mostly.

Talented wrestlers being overlooked seems to have been a problem in WWE for what feels like forever, and with a deeper roster than ever before, there are sadly still some men and women who are slipping between the cracks and not receiving the spotlight they deserve.

Some of them get TV time, but aren't being utilised to the best of their abilities. Others, meanwhile, are nowhere to be seen because Vince McMahon has either given up on them or they're not traditionally what the company looks for when it comes to finding the "face" of WWE. The one thing they all have in common is that they all have the potential to be top stars if they're given the push they so desperately need.

10. Sami Zayn

Sami Zayn had a stellar run in NXT with a series of match of the year candidates against opponents like Kevin Owens, Finn Bálor, and Shinsuke Nakamura. Unfortunately, a poorly timed injury halted any momentum he might have gained on the main roster, and while he's been able to shine in a few different rivalries since then, his heel turn has sadly turned this once promising potential world champion into a blow hard mouthpiece for other Superstars.

It was recently revealed that Zayn isn't injured and is cleared to compete; unfortunately, WWE has no creative plans for him, hence why he's now serving as a manager every Friday night rather than stealing the show in the main event.

Vince McMahon seemingly doesn't rate Zayn, and while he's clearly gifted on the microphone, there's so much more he could and should be doing on SmackDown each week. It probably doesn't help that Owens overshadowed him in a big way when they first started feuding on RAW, but making Zayn a babyface again and letting him have a noteworthy singles run could help save his career before fans write him off as just another annoying heel.
