If there's one thing Paul Heyman's ECW did extremely well - no pun intended - it was using women to the maximum potential. Yes, there were many catfights in the land of extreme, but they felt fresh, and differentiated ECW's females from those seen in WCW and the then-WWF. It wasn't only by rolling around on the mat that the fierce females of ECW grabbed attention, they all had interesting characters. From Dawn Marie's ditzy nature, to Francine's 'Queen Of Hardcore' stance, Heyman recognised that sex does indeed sell, but why can't there be some substance behind it all at the same time? WWE are, in fairness, trying this with the Total Divas show, but frustratingly, the personality traits shown on the reality program don't often come up on regular shows like Raw or Smackdown. Summer Rae is a classic example of this - Fandango's former dance partner does little of note on WWE programming, and given the company have been searching for another Kelly Kelly since she left, that's a crime. Time to call Paul Heyman, Summer, and develop that personality!
