10 WWE Title Reigns That Proved Utterly Pointless

7. The Big Show (1999)

At the Survivor Series Pay-Per-View in 1999, the WWF had a conundrum on their hands. Steve Austin had already been announced to face The Rock and Triple H in a Triple Threat Match. As the champion, Triple H's belt looked in dire trouble, because he was against 2 of the biggest stars of the past few years. Fans were excited for the collision, but Austin's injury problems forced him to be written out and replaced last minute by The Big Show. Joining the company earlier that year, Big Show hadn't quite become the mega-star Vince McMahon had hoped. Gaining weight as the months progressed, Show had taken to covering his upper body by Survivor Series. It was obvious the promotion had soured on their giant acquisition, but he was given the WWF Title anyway during the 3-way clash. This was done for sheer shock value, or so it seems. Even so, Show's title run was a miserable failure, and ultimately pointless. Entering quickly into a shoddy, tasteless feud against The Big Boss Man, Show was turned into a blubbering baby. Beating Boss Man in 3 minutes at Armageddon, he'd then lose to Triple H on Raw in early-January, leading fans to believe his title reign was fruitless.
