At WrestleMania XXVI, Jack Swagger won the annual Money In The Bank Ladder Match. Previous winners had included the likes of Edge and Rob Van Dam. Both had been part of the WWE roster for years before grabbing the briefcase, but Swagger had only been in the public eye for around a year and a half. One of the other winners, Mr. Kennedy, was someone the promotion had big plans for in 2007. That hadn't panned out, but at least there was a major angle in store for Kennedy, being outed as Mr. McMahon's son. The same couldn't be said for Jack Swagger, who was treated like a surprise winner. Mere days after winning Money In The Bank, Swagger was cashing in on Smackdown. Chris Jericho was the reigning champion Swagger cashed in on. Winning the World Heavyweight Championship, Jack Swagger would hold the belt for 82 days, but his reign accomplished very little. Routinely during title defences, Swagger escaped by the skin of his teeth. He lost the belt to Rey Mysterio during a Fatal-4-Way bout - at the Pay-Per-View of the same name - also involving Randy Orton, Big Show and CM Punk. There were no big plans to properly push Swagger, so his title run felt useless.
