WWE's safety-first house style isn't without merits, though the promotion's heavily agented, heavily controlled bouts are awful for a guy like Ricochet, who should never come off as anything close to "normal."

Born of a desire to create uniformity, WWE's approach is an extension of their booking style. Everybody is to exist and operate on the exact same level with only a few exceptions. Wrestlers aren't permitted to stand out too much from each other and those who do through their own earnest efforts shall be punished, as Zack Ryder, Rusev, and countless others have proven.

That's why Ricochet is Just A Guy in WWE. The guy rose to prominence because he's a world-class athlete and wrestles like a videogame character, pulling off the kind of eyeball-popping feats that should be impossible in this high-pressure environment. Removing his ability to do this makes him pointless. A total, nonsensical waste, because why would you buy something for its unique selling point then not exploit said USP, preventing the person from getting over?
