10 WWE Wrestlers Who Grossly Under-Achieved In 2017

6. Rusev

Rusev spent much of the early part of the year on the treatment table, to be fair, so he can hardly have been expected to play a starring role at WrestleMania.

But, even in the short time he's been fighting fit, the Bulgarian Brute hasn't been in the best form, a run of bad luck that can be traced back to April when Jinder Mahal was given a WWE Championship opportunity (seemingly) at his expense.

After some soul searching, Rusev feuded with the likes of John Cena and Randy Orton, the latter of whom beat him inside 10 seconds at SummerSlam. The "rub" from being paired up with two of the company's biggest stars, it seems, does you no favours when you keep on losing.

This testing period can perhaps be written off as the inevitable byproduct of suffering a long-term injury, but with the likes of Jinder, Corbin, Nakamura and Roode moving in on the main event, Rusev - even at 100% - may struggle to win back his spot.
