5. Eddie Guerrero

It's one thing to lose your WWE debut match, but to lose your debut and get injured? That doesn't bear thinking about. That's what happened to Eddie Guerrero, who almost blew his entire career in one night. 

'Latino Heat' was part of the iconic Radicalz stable of ex-WCW wrestlers who jumped ship to WWE in early 2000. On the 3 February edition of SmackDown, Guerrero teamed up with Perry Saturn for his first official match against the New Age Outlaws. That new duo had been booked to win, but something went horribly wrong. 

Guerrero dislocated his elbow when executing his trademark Frog Splash. Upon realising he was hurt, he panicked, and told Road Dogg to pin him. As a result, he and Saturn lost the match in under 5 minutes. Not only did Guerrero look like a loser, but he was now out of action for several weeks. 

It's actually incredible that WWE didn't cut him on the spot.

Clearly they saw Eddie's potential. After a topsy-turvy few years, Guerrero achieved his full potential by winning the WWE Title in 2004; and he did it without breaking his own arm this time.
