10 Young WWE Stars With WrestleMania Main Event Potential

The future is bright for many, but only the very best can reach the WrestleMania main event...

The latest run of WWE releases taught us many things, one of which is that Vince McMahon is firmly set on investing in youth. No matter how talented some released stars might have been, if they were over a certain age, the writing was on the wall that they would be future endeavoured. Of all the released superstars last week, only Trey Baxter was under the age of 30, that is the mentality WWE is operating under. It’s a ruthless approach but like it or not it’s here to stay.

Creating new boom stars that can carry the company into the future generations is seemingly WWE’s biggest focus right now. Ironic, since it can be argued they failed to do this during the era we are swiftly leaving.

With this said, there are some genuine powerhouse names still on WWE’s books in the likes of Seth Rollins, Charlotte Flair and of course Roman Reigns and they all still have long careers ahead of them. However, time beats everyone and these stars will not last forever. So, whilst the next crop of youngsters are keen and hungry to take over, WWE seems hell-bent on preparing them to do just that.

As much as he’d like to book names like Reigns, Cena, Orton and Goldberg in WrestleMania main events forever, Vince McMahon will need to think differently someday potentially soon.

These are the young stars he could call upon to headline his greatest creation...

10. Odyssey Jones

At first glance, Odyssey Jones’ potential for superstardom can be solely linked to his sheer size. Jones is a big man, a hoss wrestler who possesses the frame and presence Vince McMahon dreams about every single night.

However, there is more to this character than what meets the eye.

At 6 ft 3 tall, and weighing a frightening 405 pounds, Jones moves around the ring like a cruiserweight. This makes it unsurprising that he made his televised debut earlier this year not on NXT, but on 205 Live, defeating Grayson Waller.

His style which crosses raw power and agility allows him to stand out from the pack, along with his bright and colourful chequered singlet attire.

The former Division 1 college football standout has also previously used Mark Henry’s finishing move the World Strongest Slam to end matches, which isn’t the only correlation he shares with the now AEW commentator. Jones is a strongman through and through, setting a Performance Center deadlift record of 800 pounds in 2019, so it would make sense if WWE has high hopes for Odyssey to be the second coming of Mark Henry.

Like most young WWE creations, there is a period of greenness and Odyssey is currently in that stage now, but if the company persist with the loveable babyface, then he could very possibly become a main roster beast with an extremely high ceiling.
