11 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Dynamite (Jun 14 - Review)
8. Mogul Embassy Vs Sting, Darby Allin, Orange Cassidy & Keith Lee
A luxurious and rare television party match best summed up by Brian Cage literally working in fancy dress as one of his opponents from thirty years ago, the eight-man tag match pitting Mogul Embassy agains Sting, Darby Allin, Orange Cassidy and Keith Lee was a wonderful addition to a show that already had a special atmosphere.
All four babyfaces got shine in what, regrettably, might have been the most entertaining way to pay off what remains of Swerve Strickland Vs Keith Lee as AEW yet again used ‘The Stinger’ impeccably ahead of another tantalising tag next week.
All Elite Wrestling is often at its best when it takes the basics and does them better than anywhere else. Bastardised in WWE for far too long, the company launched in 2019 with the ethos of trying to do what the market leader refused to, and here was a perfect example of why. The good guys bested the bad guys, just the way you’d like, just the way you’d want, and restored enough justice for another seven days.
Tony Schiavone couldn’t hide how much he loved pro wrestling on commentary, and nor should he when it can still be this pure.
