The New World Order traumatized World Championship Wrestling on-screen and, behind the scenes, played a large part in its demise. In 2002, his authority in question, Vince McMahon announced the return of Scott Hall, Kevin Nash and Hulk Hogan to WWE in return to Ric Flair's status as half-owner of the company. The 2002 No Way Out pay-per-view, not-so-coincidentally sharing the same initials as the cancerous trio, was home to the epic homecoming. Not wasting a single second, the faction made their way to the ring and cut a promo in which each member feigned sincerity, thanking the fans for taking them back. That fake emotion was erased later, when Hall, Nash and Hogan attacked Steve Austin and cost him the WWE Undisputed Championship, proving that they were as deceitful and dangerous as ever.
