12 Super Weird Quirks Unique To ONE Wrestler

12. Damien Sandow’s Wine Glass Mic Technique

WWE squashed poor Damien Sandow's push like the grapes used to make those expensive wines he'd surely savour when appearing as the company's 'Intellectual Saviour Of The (Unwashed) Masses'. It made no sense. Sandow went from winning Money In The Bank 2013 and showing off a leather-bound briefcase to staring at the lights for John Cena and being forgotten about...by the writers, at least. Not the fans.

He watched his main event dreams go up in smoke, but Damien's attention to detail will always be appreciated by those who pay attention to that sort of thing. Whilst adorned in what appeared to be a luxury bathrobe-meets-smoking jacket, Sandow chewed over how pitiful fans were whilst holding the microphone in a fun, unique fashion.

Damien cradled that thing like it was an expensive glass of fine wine, and that was always such a nice touch. The fact that no-one else on the roster took this approach (those brutes held the mic like they were trying to eat the thing in one go!) greatly helped put across how distinguished and different the 'Intellectual Saviour' gimmick was.

It was honestly the most minuscule idea, but it added so much weight to an already-fleshed out character. If only Vince McMahon and his creative cohorts had stayed warm on Sandow's push rather than getting cold feet and hitting the eject button when it mattered most, eh?

No, holding the mic a special way doesn't make someone an automatic headliner, but Damien had plenty to offer overall. He was really, really good at playing that persona. This article sees you, 'Saviour'!
