12 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Dynamite (November 8 - Results & Review)
8. Jay White Vs Mark Briscoe
An inspired bit of matchmaking did much to heat up not just Jay White but a Jay White/MJF AEW Championship match that has started to feel colder by the week.
There are few babyfaces more beloved at present than Mark Briscoe, and there was nobody as well-placed to try and sell theoretically impossible stakes than the Ring Of Honor Hall-Of-Famer. Promos from both men earlier in the night set the stage as legitimately as they could - a Full Gear main event that has already had several weeks of build sunk into it could be up in smoke should Briscoe pin 'The Switchblade' in the evening's headliner.
When he oh-so-nearly did with the Froggy Bow, the crowd lost their collective mind. What followed was a luxurious hold/counter-hold fight to the finish, and there may be nobody better at that aspect of the game than the Number One Contender. The "Let's Go Briscoe" chants rained down as Mark continued to dodge the Blade Runner but White was just as adept at slipping out of Jay Driller attempts and a brutal brainbuster/DDT combo was enough to open the door for a finisher that - like Mark - did its job to perfection.
