Having attempted to sneak him back on screen via tribute to colleagues that had passed away and the "safety" of a Saudi Arabia show, WWE gave up the ghost and used him for a cheap pop at WrestleMania 35. The surprise might have generated the guttural response in the moment, but the mood quickly changed as reality set in. It was anything but a highlight of the night.
