15 Most WTF Romantic Moments In WWE History

1. Tainted Love

In a major inversion of the usual wrestling tropes, WWE gave us a different kind of wedding in 2004. Instead of two babyfaces trying to have a fairytale marriage ceremony in the middle of a smelly wrestling ring surrounded by thousands of jeering rednecks and having that wonderful moment ruined by a pitiless psychopath, we saw a babyface forced to marry a pitiless psychopath while her babyface boyfriend was powerless to prevent it.As wrestling angles go, this would have been disturbingly rapey on its own. Of course, the audience was well aware of the context here: months earlier, Kane had stalked and harassed Lita, beating the crap out of her actual boyfriend Matt Hardy and kidnapping her until she agreed to have sex with him to make the nightmare stop. Lita would then become pregnant, and Kane was confirmed to be the father. Hardy fought Kane at SummerSlam 2004 for the right to marry his own girlfriend (why€ McMahon only knows) and lost, meaning that Lita, a character defined by her rebellious, independent streak, had no choice but to marry her stalker and rapist. Wrestling storylines involving a heel doing heinous, horrible sh*t are supposed to lead up to the babyface coming back to nailbomb the evil d*ckweasel that gave them all that grief. They€™re not supposed to finish with the hero being chokeslammed off a cliff and the villain marrying his girlfriend. Forget the morality involved for a second, if you€™re able: where€™s the money in seeing all of this happen? Who€™s buying their ticket to see it? It€™s the most WTF wedding and allegedly 'romantic' moment in WWF/E history. And that€™s saying something.
