An endorsement from The Rock wasn't enough, so WWE doubled down with two endorsements from differing voices. Once Reigns toppled Daniel Bryan at Fastlane to preserve his WrestleMania title match, he was confronted by his opponent the following night. Bryan then cut a promo that gushed about Reigns showing heart and determination that he didn't think Reigns had. The pro-Bryan crowd saw through this and reacted coolly. Then Paul Heyman arrived on Lesnar's behalf, putting over Reigns as a guy that could beat any iconic wrestler in their prime from Steve Austin in 1998, to Hulk Hogan in 1987, among others. By laying it on extra thick, the efforts to convince the audience of Reigns' main-event status fell flat once more.
