Pro wrestling has featured many successful athletes who had promising football careers before entering the squared circle: Ron Simmons, The Rock, John Cena, Vader, etc. Mongo was not one of those people. He looked uncoordinated and out of place in a wrestling ring, and despite training with Terry Taylor at the WCW Power Plant, had a limited move-set and lacked the ring psychology needed to put on a good match. Worse yet, he seemed to lack timing and pacing, making many of his moves look like they were being performed by a green rookie instead of the consummate pro he was supposed to be portraying. In fact, the majority of his career wasnt that great, as he wasnt having that many good matches. Yet somehow, WCW thought it would be a good idea to have Mongo become a member of the legendary Four Horsemen stable, completely devaluing that name and the prestige it held.In the end, Mongo was a very underwhelming wrestler who failed to transition properly from football to wrestling. Maybe he shouldve stayed on the gridiron instead.
