In the 90's, big wrestling companies such as WWF and WCW only visited the UK on special occasions, and really only taped one-off specials. Now, WWE tours Britain twice annually, and it's routine for the company to tape episodes of Monday Night Raw or Smackdown in UK arenas. The thought of the WWF visiting the country was huge enough, nobody would have expected them to tape Raw Is War on the British Isles. Today, WWE can beam shows live back to the United States, but taping any show in the UK during the 90's meant that there was some delay. For example, Summerslam 1992 was recorded on August 29, but didn't air until August 31 in the US. If you desperately wanted to see a 'real' WWF show done live, the only choice was to travel to America, which obviously burned a hole in people's pockets.
