17 Things Only 90s UK Wrestling Fans Will Understand

1. Friday Night Raw

Above all else, the idea that wrestling fans had to wait a till Friday to see a program originally shown on Mondays is likely maddening to most fans today. That was just the way it was - Sky Sports showed Raw on a Friday night, prime time, and Smackdown was later aired on Saturday evenings in the same time slot, 9-11pm. It may seem strange now, but it was an altogether different time. The internet wasn't quite what it is today, and thus fans had no real means of finding out what had happened on Monday, meaning Friday's broadcast of Raw Is War felt fresh and was entirely spoiler free. This simply couldn't happen today, which is why WWE and Sky made the decision to show Raw live in the UK on Mondays, even if it meant asking viewers to stay up late. Unlike the 90's, there's always the option of recording on Sky +, and watching whenever suits. What other memories do you have of being a wrestling fan in the UK during the 90's?
