16. The Rock Vs. John Cena - WrestleMania XXVIII

Well, it didn't quite turn out to be 'Once in a Lifetime', but The Rock versus John Cena was one of those dream matches that people had been waiting to see for years. Ever since Cena started calling out The Rock in interviews around 2006, fans have wanted to see the two square off. Of course, with Rock's insane film schedule it was doubtful that it would ever happen. He was a movie star now, not a professional wrestler, and hadn't wrestled since 2004. Could Dwayne Johnson, with all that extra muscle mass, still go in the ring if need be? That was the question on most fans' minds in the run-up to Rock and Cena's titanic bout at 'Mania XXVIII. Their promo work had been stellar (as expected) but doubts remained over their ability to put on a match worthy of the hype. Long story short, Rock and Cena headlined WrestleMania with a match more than worthy of top billing. Sure, Rock looked a little gassed out there (he had just went thirty minutes after not wrestling for several years) but their execution, combined with the insane crowd heat, made for a cracking contest. It was every bit as epic as the advertising promised. Shame about the rematch, mind.
