3 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Royal Rampage (July 21)
Sorry, but AEW's two-ring 'Royal Rampage' idea just has to go next year.
Tony Khan spread himself a bit thin by scheduling ROH's latest pay-per-view and an episode of Rampage for the same night. On top of that, the AEW chief has Collision coming up on Saturday night, then spins directly into All In build on next week's Dynamite. It's all a bit busy, so Tony could probably do with delegating Ring Of Honor to somebody else.
Whilst he's at it, could he scrap the double ring 'Royal Rampage' idea from Friday night lineups next year? It makes sense that Rampage needs something to capitalise on the two ring layout for 'Blood & Guts', but this isn't the one. The 2023 version proved that - it was a 30-minute snoozefest until the finishing stretch.
Everybody knows that Rampage is a complete afterthought these days, but you're still guaranteed to see some decent action on these shows. It's nothing earth-shattering, and yet workmanlike performances from The Acclaimed and Kris Statlander managed to keep things afloat this week.
The latter is on a bit of a tear as TBS Champion right now. She can take heart from a strong showing to close out Rampage too, and Kris should be proud that she's the most watchable female champ in All Elite circles at the moment.
