4. AAA Cruiser Action Falls A Little Flat

Sadly, Rey Fenix vs. Ricky Saints was a bit of a nothing burger on the whole.

Not just because of the DQ finish, but it was more of a slog than anticipated. The match certainly didn’t hit the heights of their 11 September effort, and that's a shame considering both men could really do with turning heads more often than not when they're put in front of the cameras on SmackDown.

Realistically, it hasn’t helped that a lot of this rivalry has taken place in online exclusives rather than on TV. There hasn't been much reason for fans to care, then the match itself didn’t click on this occasion to make matters worse. Saints getting disqualified by Charles Robinson then hitting his finish on Fenix post-match does suggest that WWE will keep this going though.

Let's be real: AAA Cruiserweight Title rivalries like this have limited scope on core programming. Rey vs. Ricky could light up a future AAA card on YouTube, but it won't be bothering any WWE PLEs anytime soon. It's a bargain bin kind of title feud, and that isn't even said callously to be cruel.

It's just the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

The only hope this duo have of earning kudos from Triple H is by lighting it up when they're given the chance. That didn't pan out for Fenix and Saints on Friday night, so it may be on The Undertaker to get something out of their story in Mexico. Or, y'know, more WWE.com exclusives are on the way.
