3 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE Sunday Night's Main Event
1. A Visible Vision?
Technically, Oba Femi won Sunday’s clash with Bron Breakker by disqualification, but this almost certainly won’t satisfy The Ruler.
Despite the much-hyped “future of WWE” match ending inconclusively, it did accomplish a few things that, if booked properly, could benefit several wrestlers.
Bron Breakker desperately needed a great night to push him back into the narrative of being a future WWE main-eventer. He delivered a solid performance against Oba, with both men teeing off on the other, firing their best shots at one another in an escalating battle. Breakker controlled a decent amount of the match, something that few wrestlers have done against Femi.
Bronson Reed’s return (and incredible physical shape) immediately rocketed him back into the conversation as one of the bright spots on Raw. He (along with Bron) decimated Femi, who has looked mostly invincible throughout his run. Bronson’s return also breathes new life into The Vision, which could be good or bad, depending on your perspective.
And for Oba, this outcome sets up The Vision as an obstacle in his way. He can dispatch with Austin Theory pretty easily. If Logan Paul is cleared, Femi could flatten him as well. Reed represents a more serious challenge en route to getting back to Bron and this “future” debate, but he ultimately would be a mountain for Oba to climb.
There’s even the possibility of Oba finding a teammate and taking the tag titles off of The Vision as he makes it his mission to end this miserable husk of a stable.
All of this carries the caveat that the ultimate goal has to be that Oba Femi is the next big thing and ascends to the top of the card soon, with the crowd still fiercely behind him. If fans start wavering or his forward momentum pauses too much, this could all fall apart.
