6. A Pointless Performance
During the lead-up to Sunday Night’s Main Event, some questioned the inclusion of a musical performance from Quavo as part of the show, especially after it came to light that TKO viewed this as a "soft launch" for adding similar musical performances at WWE events down the line.
Musical acts have long played a role in wrestling, but the most effective – and least obtrusive – has almost always been when a band or artist performs a wrestler’s theme and plays them down to the ring, rather than a separate musical performance that has no direct tie to the show.
Sunday, Quavo opened SNME, pushing a shopping cart full of $100 bills onto the stage, and proceeded to rap for all of 60 seconds with pyro and fire going off throughout.
And that was it.
This is not advocating for a longer performance, but plugging that a local music star will be performing a new song and then giving him 60 seconds is laughable and utterly pointless. At least it was short, inoffensive, and was over before the program really got started. Still, this was ultimately much ado about nothing.
