4 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE WrestleMania 29
2. Brodus
Credit to John Cena who - according to Brodus Clay himself - selflessly sacrificed whatever WrestleMania entrance the company had planned to this skit could go ahead.
This wasn't an Alex Riley situation though. His instincts were way off the mark here.
'Big Match John' and Brodus' banter gimmick may have afforded loads of dancers and the Funkadactyls themselves WrestleMania paydays, but it all came at the expense of a crowd's patience and good taste. For those that haven't seen it and especially those considering wasting a click on it, Clay asked the crowd to "Call Their Mamas" as per his banger of a theme. This resulted "Mama Clay and The Bridge Club" all emerging on the stage for a dance.
There was no punchline - the gimmick, to Vince McMahon, was ha-ha-hilarious enough.
