4. Trick In The Bank!
The first Triple Threat fared much better than the second, as previously discussed.
Trick Williams beat Rey Fenix and Randy Orton in a 3-way qualifier for the men’s Money In The Bank ladder match next month. It's always gonna be a surprise when a star like Orton doesn’t win these things, but the crew worked this well and Fenix was really only there to take the fall anyway. That isn’t an issue, because Trick winning acted as a slight shock considering Randy’s main event status.
There was a lot to like here, and Rey actually got given a ton (particularly by Orton). As always and as aforementioned, these Triple Threats could get tedious the more of them we see heading into MITB, but this was an entertaining kickoff for SmackDown's side full of fun spots and urgency.
Randy hit a springboard RKO on Fenix before Williams Trick Kicked him out of the way to grab the pin. Trick, Bron Breakker and Je’Von Evans make a good early lineup for the men. All of them are cast as future stars more than current ones, so there's a recurring theme to those involved. That's a good thing, and it's really what Money In The Bank should be all about.
It's worth pointing out just how slick Williams looked when he had more than one wrestler in the ring with him. Some of his singles bouts have sagged since he joined the main roster, but Randy's instincts and Rey's movement managed to offset that.
