4. Got To Question The Wisdom Of This
Tiffany Stratton and Chelsea Green losing to Michin and B-FAB when both babyfaces are in the ladder match for that interim Women’s Title at SummerSlam is just confusing. Why not try to build some momentum for them heading into such an important occasion? Sure, Jade Cargill helped her Baddies win, but this didn’t feel like the right result or way to go about things.
Realistically, the writing team told the truth: That neither Stratton nor Green is really in the running. WWE might as well have shouted it out loud when they then had Charlotte Flair attack Cargill. Those women are the true stars of this 5-way ladder bout, not Green, Stratton or the soon-to-qualify Lash Legend. In essence, the interim Women's Title showdown might as well be Flair vs. Jade 1v1.
That's a problem, because any interim championship scenario hinges on fans believing that anyone involved could win it. It isn't enough to just put your feet up and say, 'Ah, but you'll see some cool bumps and spots'. No, the beauty of these matches comes from buying into an underdog success (like Chelsea reaching the mountaintop) or something like that. Otherwise, what's the point in investing?
You'd think WWE themselves would know that after decades of running Money In The Bank matches.
Also, why has Tiffany suddenly shed her doubts over Green and started acting like they're pre-teens who just became besties? She literally cut promos about not trusting Chelsea because of her history, and now that has been shoved to one side. Just saying.
