Chelsea Green Wins Women's US Title On SmackDown (WWE News)
Giulia's title reign falters as WWE boss Triple H puts gold back on Chelsea Green.
Chelsea Green recaptured the Women's United States Title to kick off her second reign with the belt on Friday's episode of WWE SmackDown. She beat now former champ Giulia by putting her feet on the ropes during a roll up spot after her mate Alba Fyre had caused a distraction.
This outcome ends Giulia's own 133-day reign as champion - she hammered Zelina Vega to win the strap on the 27 June SmackDown held over in Saudi Arabia. Since then, Kiana James has become Giulia's mouthpiece, but WWE's creative team never really came through on a concrete feud for them. Even so, it did seem like James was excelling in her role and that Triple H may make something of the duo.
That's been iced, apparently.
WWE see much more value in Green's pairing with Ethan Page. The duo are also current reigning AAA Mixed Tag-Team Champs, and now Chelsea has her old belt back to go with that prize. It remains to be seen whether or not Page will stick around as part of the main roster on Fridays, but his work alongside Green has been earning rave reviews down in NXT for months.
Chelsea's previous/first run as Women's US Champ ran from December 2024-April 2025. It was a shock when Vega dethroned her on the 25 April SmackDown, but now she has her 'baby' back. All is right with the world, and her double act with Ethan is definitely over, but...what does this mean for Giulia and Kiana?
Opinion: Giulia Needs Deep Creative Thought
There's certainly something to James and Giulia as a package, but a mediocre title reign and the fact Green is now back in the hot seat spells disaster for them. Putting the belt back on Chels could be Hunter's way of pressing a reset button on the championship (Chelsea was the first champion), and it could be a sure sign that he isn't chuffed with Giulia's work too.
She was regarded as Stephanie Vaquer's equal in NXT when both arrived on the scene, but things have changed. Now, in November 2025, Vaquer is way above her old developmental peer in terms of pure star power and presentation. There's plenty of time to salvage things, of course, but the pair are travelling in different directions on the roster.
A babyface turn could be in the pipeline just to freshen things up. Naturally, that'd likely mean an early split from Kiana, which could be risky. Again, there's defo something to their partnership - WWE just needs to figure out what they want to do with it heading into the new year.
