5 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (April 2)
2. Edge’s Commentary
Daniel Bryan soared on guest commentary several weeks ago, so yours truly wasn't expecting Edge to top that on Friday night. The truth is that he didn't, but that wasn't down to a lack of effort. Actually, Edge was on top form here, and he did everything to complement the 'Street Fight' going on in front of him between Bryan and Jey Uso.
Edge picked his spots so he wouldn't trample all over Michael Cole or Corey Graves. Also, he paid attention to the match and made sure to bow out whenever somebody went for a near fall or was about to hit a major spot - it isn't the guest's job to sell those moments, and a certain comeback king knew it.
Nobody can ask for much more than that.
Shots of Roman reacting on the ramp did a lot to sell the main event too. Regular SmackDown viewers have already witnessed Bryan and Uso beating the sh*te out of one another, so their match was always going to be background noise to the coming 'Mania war. That's fine.
