Heading into the only big wrestling show of the weekend (kidding, AEW fans), WWE clearly is hellbent on controlling the wrestling narrative by stacking the card for WWE Wrestlepalooza.

Monday Night Raw provided them the go-home show to really sell the red brand’s contributions, which they did – with mixed results.

The hottest feud on Raw right now clearly is the husbands/wives feud pitting CM Punk and AJ Lee against Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch. The mixed tag match Saturday should be off the charts, and the in-ring confrontation Monday night only helped build to that showdown. All four superstars brought something to the table, making it easily the highlight of the night.

Of course, that means that because it took place mid-show, Raw’s main event was a significant comedown. Worse, it was an impromptu match between members of The Vision and a combination of Punk/LA Knight/an Uso that was immediately followed by a post-match heel beatdown. Lather, rinse, repeat.

John Cena showed up to do the hard sell for his PLE match against Brock Lesnar, but it’s 2025 and both men are years past their prime and their relevancy to everyday professional wrestling, making this more of an “old timers’ game” than a Clash of the Titans. Throw in the obvious baggage Lesnar carries and the residual vibes from Cena’s wasted half-year heel run and you have a take-it-or-leave-it match.

Beyond those key moments, Raw offered matchups that were more “wrestlers on a treadmill” facing each other multiple times, giving a feeling that WWE is just jogging in place, providing movement but not really moving anywhere meaningful from week to week.
