DOWNS…
6. An Awkward Promo Exchange
LA Knight is usually a bit more sure on the mic, but he stumbled his way through what was… an interesting promo exchange with Jimmy Uso Monday night.
The conversation played out largely to silence in the arena, which didn’t bode well. Knight started out a bit clunky, finally getting across that he was entering the King of the Ring tournament (which also was the only real mention of the upcoming King and Queen tournaments), and that he was coming for Roman Reigns.
This brought out Jimmy Uso, and the two engaged in an awkward back-and-forth, with Knight stoking the flames with the Usos’ falling back in line with Roman, and Jimmy warning him that he needed to stay out of family business and stop litigating the past.
LA got off a good line when he asked Jimmy if he was being honest with himself about the path this iteration of the Bloodline was on, but the entire exchange was so disjointed that it never really hit with the crowd.
Still, in terms of laying the groundwork of spelling out what is very likely coming with a heel Bloodline, this worked with Knight as the canary in the coal mine.
But the delivery didn’t work – the lack of crowd reaction served as evidence – so this merits a tepid down.
