2. Cena Gives Reasons

The idea that John Cena didn’t have a Road to WrestleMania seemed ridiculous to outside observers.

Sure, if Undertaker didn’t accept his challenge, it would close off a major match avenue, but surely there were others Cena could take. Monday, Cena shot them down, using Michael Cole as an avatar for the fans.

He said Cole asked why Cena didn’t just enter the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal (the most obvious choice) or volunteer to be Braun Strowman’s tag partner, or even try to get in on one of the other multi-man matches taking place.

Cena calmly shot them all down, noting that he’s had numerous chances, losing to Roman Reigns, at Royal Rumble, at Elimination Chamber and at Fastlane and that it wouldn’t be fair to just take a spot away from a full-time wrestler, hence his challenge to Taker.

It was a rare mixing of storyline, reality and fan gripes all at once, and it worked.
