Birthplace: Point Pleasant, West Virginia If you want to talk about something that will never happen in wrestling again, how about Ray Stevens becoming a huge heel star in the business... at the age of 17? After becoming one of the top wrestlers of the 1960's, Stevens would go to the AWA in the early-70's, where he would take on the "Crippler" nickname after kayfabe breaking the leg of Dick Beyer, giving him even more notoriety. Another notch on Stevens' belt is that he is one of the only people who can say they defeated Bruno Sammartino in the 60's, albeit in a Two-Out-Of-Three Falls Match where the final fall ended in a countout, but this was during Bruno's record seven-and-a-half year reign as the WWWF Champion, so he wasn't exactly taking loss after loss at the time. That tells you how big Stevens got to be at one point.
