33. Montez Ford Shocks The World

WWE

On the March 21, 2025 edition of WWE SmackDown, the Street Profits defeated Los Garza. It was a WWE midcard TV match, meaning it was blandly competent and bereft of heat.

Near the finish, WWE borrowed a trick from New Japan Pro Wrestling, which was strange. Isn’t New Japan just a bunch of flippy guys with no grasp of psychology trying to con Dave Meltzer into giving them six stars in the Tokyo Dome?

You wouldn’t catch WWE Superstars doing that sort of thing.

Montez Ford did that sort of thing by thieving Will Ospreay’s top rope hurricanrana reversal - the one where he landed on his feet, turned around, and because, crucially, it was the first time it had happened, Kota Ibushi looked on in amazement.

Ford’s front flip reversal from a tandem superplex attempt wasn’t even that good, which was less than ideal. He bounced forward after stumbling on the landing. That didn’t prevent Angel and Berto from reacting to the spot, wearing hideously fake and unearned facial expressions, like they’d just witnessed Jesus Christ himself performing a miracle. Berto was the worst of the two; like a beached fish, he mouthed “What?” over and over again in disbelief.
