4. Building Nicely To A Triple Threat

It's no shocker that Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes have good chemistry on the mic and inside the ring. They’re old pals who stretch back to the NXT days, and they click whether partners or opponents. Tossing main roster newbie Ricky Saints into the mix should help him too - he’s going through what Melo did during this jump from NXT to the main crew. Teething problems, they probably call it.

The double countout finish to Hayes vs. Saints on SmackDown worked in terms of progressing towards a Triple Threat with Trick. There was plenty of slick action to enjoy, and it was way better than their fare on the 15 May edition. By the way, a house show run would help these guys iron out the kinks and then work an absolute classic on PLE. Just saying.

If WWE want a match to help 'main event' the first half of live events this summer, then Trick vs. Melo vs. Saints could plug a hole with aplomb. Then, by the time SummerSlam comes along, they'll be ready to rock and roll on the undercard across that weekender. Y'know, if the 3-way doesn't go down before August. Screw it: Put Trick vs. Hayes on a PLE card soon, then keep brewing that Triple Threat.

Carmelo has experienced some journey since moving to SmackDown, but he's legitimately over with fans now. It's eye-opening that he isn't even hearing boos when he talks down to the immensely popular Williams. That's telling, and it shows how good a job Hayes has been doing to win people over.

Paying attention, Ricky?
