5. Demon Demolishes Dominik

WWE

Heading into the Finn Balor versus Dominik Mysterio match, the expectations centered on Balor’s Demon getting an epic entrance and Dominik crapping himself in response, then getting his comeuppance in the match itself.

And on those notes, WWE delivered quite well. The Demon’s entrance came off incredibly well, while Mysterio huddled and hit behind the announce desk, clearly not wanting to get into the ring. The match itself was a bit surprising in that Dominik got a fair amount of offense, but the Demon rose up after a frog splash to thrash Mysterio and put him away with a Coup de Grace through a table.

The match was somewhat cathartic for Balor, shaking off the last vestiges of his Judgment Day self, embracing the Demon persona to defeat Dirty Dom. Despite being a plunder match, they kept it somewhat short - less than 15 minutes - so it didn’t overstay its welcome.

Where Finn and the cursed Dominik go from here remains to be seen, but this was a good match for what it was.
