2. Main Event Proves Handy For Jade Cargill
IYO SKY vs. Jade Cargill was a better main event than the lacklustre setup suggested it would be earlier in the night. Again, and this is becoming a theme for SmackDown, it was nothing earth shattering, but Jade looked comfier in there vs. IYO than some would expect. Her feud with Rhea Ripley is still a real chore, of course. You've got to call matches and segments on an individual basis though, and there was a fair bit to like in this one.
Cargill looked the best she has for a while. It was definitely the best she's looked inside the ring since becoming Women's Champion last year. Lord only knows why it takes Triple H so long to get going with some of his champions once they win belts. It's like everyone stops to take a 3/4-month breather and pat themselves on the back for a job well done.
These are the kinds of reps Jade needed as champ immediately.
SKY didn't really keep selling the damage done on Monday's episode of Raw (and she only halfheartedly did so when making her entrance to announce Friday's headliner at the top of the night), but that also didn't take much away from the match. If Jade is about to hit a streak of form and show up inside the ring, then it'll be welcome - her rivalry with Ripley badly needs their WrestleMania clash to knock it out of the park.
A few more performances like this one and Cargill should be fine. Remember those crossed fingers from before? Cross your toes too!
