Shawn Michaels had already established his credentials for the 'Mr WrestleMania' moniker before crushing Mr McMahon in a match far more entertaining that it had any right to be. Especially considering how the angle seemed crafted to tease Bret Hart back into the WWE spotlight above all else.
'The Hitman' had gone into the company's Hall Of Fame the night before but declined to make an appearance on the 'Show Of Shows' itself the next night. The programme was born out of Shawn Michaels begging his boss to get over Montreal, but Bret's complete disinterest, the pair pivoted to big banter spots featuring Shane McMahon, The Spirit Squad, Marty Jannetty and the dreaded Kiss My *ss Club.
All bar Marty had their WrestleMania moment before 'HBK' obliterated Vince with free shot Sweet Chin Music and an elbow drop from a ladder through a table whilst McMahon had a bin on his head. If this all sounds like b*llocks on top of bullsh*t, it's because it was, and it was amazing.
