6 Ups And 6 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (July 30)
4. Heir Jordan
Week two of Jason Jordan's new beginning as son-of-Angle was as clunky as his pedestrian squash over 100-defeats-in-a-row anti-legend Curt Hawkins.
The segment made sense in theory, but then so much about the surprise son storyline does. Miz remains typically one of the most detestable characters on the show even from discerning audiences, but his words cut too close as he attempted to steer Jordan away from the nepotistic route to glory via a spot in his ever-improving Miztourage.
The conversation quickly attempted to trample WWE's newest fear, acknowledging the boos he received on his debut and giving Jordan the opportunity to craft his own version of the tired 'fans can do what they want' schtick, as if that's ever worked in the past.
The former American Alpha star's delivery was weak. Too weak to draw much of a reaction when he hit a spectacular overhead suplex on the Intercontinental Champion straight onto his lackeys to end the segment. A SummerSlam match looks likely, which smartly utilises a growing sense of bias the locker room at large will accuse the General Manager of, but Miz himself may not be the heel to steer away the quiet disdain towards the prodigal son after all.
