When Stephanie McMahon came out and started talking about how she had faith in Mick Foley but wished he had consulted her about making a match, and then he said the same thing about another match, it sparked the kind of inane chatter that drives fans crazy.
No one cares about feuding authority figures and who is being fair to whom. It’s mindless talking about an imaginary power struggle or some future conflict that might or might not happen.
That’s why it was awesome when Kevin Owens jumped on the mic and yelled, “Who cares who consulted who?... What about us? We’re national treasures!” Hyperbole aside, KO was right as the WWE Universal Champion to not care about some back-office conversation taking place in the middle of the ring.
Moreover, Owens really was saying what everyone in the arena and at home was thinking: Who cares?
