6 Ups And 7 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (June 12)
1. Regressing Before Our Eyes
If you watched Corey Graves’ interview with Bayley and felt like you were in a time warp, you weren’t alone.
During the segment, Bayley, a former Raw and NXT Women’s Champion, talked about how she wasn’t in WWE to put bruises on people or send them to the hospital, but to put smiles on faces.” This is the same woman who had a career-defining war against Sasha Banks and did battle with the likes of Nia Jax and Asuka. She then asked Graves to close out the interview with a hug.
No, seriously.
If this was last year when she first debuted, you could brush it off as something of a reset of Bayley’s character from NXT. But she’s been on the main roster for nearly a year now, battled and defeated Charlotte for the Raw Women’s Championship and left WrestleMania with the title in hand. WWE is basically trying to unwind the character and regress her to more than two years ago, which is insane.
Bayley was a can’t-miss superstar when she was called up, but it appears like WWE has proved that it can indeed find a way to miss.
