Whether you love him or derisively chant Goldberg at him, Ryback is finally getting the kind of push he deserved more than two years ago. In late 2012, Ryback was drawing huge chants and attention from fans. Rather than getting a midcard title (ala Ultimate Warrior), he was pushed into the main event scene, which ultimately led to a heel turn when there was nowhere else for him to go. Sunday, Ryback survived the Elimination Chamber to win his first singles gold in WWE, the Intercontinental Championship. He and Sheamus had a nice mini-match at the end as the last two men involved, with the Big Guy taking a couple rough moves on the steel before picking up the win. Ryback even got a nice endorsement from the previous champ, Daniel Bryan, which can only help him.Some will say that Ryback is a one-dimensional power guy, but he has shown some versatility in the ring and proven that he can handle a microphone a little. Rather than going with a sixth IC title reign for Bad News Barrett or a fifth one for Dolph Ziggler, giving Ryback a chance to prove himself is the right call at this time. Hopefully, hell rise to the occasion. If not, then at least theyve given him a fair shot.
