6 Ups And 9 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Oct 5th)

4. We€™re In Pink Hell

On the surface, it seems like an OK gesture: Pay tribute to the ongoing fight against breast cancer during Breast Cancer Awareness Month by partnering with a major organization supposedly devoted to ending breast cancer. Wash WWE in pink, trot out breast cancer survivors during Raw and pat yourself on the back. It just smacks of self-congratulatory smugness to trumpet your efforts like this, having an obvious screeching halt with John Cena and Roman Reigns out there talking up the effort while the roster stands on the stage. (Side note: Why isn€™t someone like Titus O€™Neil, who has an actual personal story about losing immediate family to breast cancer, up there talking rather than Reigns, who added absolutely nothing?)Worse yet, Susan G. Komen isn€™t the be-all, end-all for breast cancer, even though they would like to have everyone believe that. Komen has faced some controversies in recent years, but some survivors have pointed out the hypocrisy and willful ignorance of the organization. Komen is far from the final authority on breast cancer, but WWE is all too willing to line right up with them.
