7 Biggest Missed Opportunities From WWE Super ShowDown 2019

3. Giving Baron Corbin A Universal Championship Match

Seth Rollins' Universal Championship defence against Baron Corbin was undoubtedly one of 'The Beast-Slayer's least memorable offerings and, quite frankly, it was through no fault of his own.

Corbin may be a great heel but he isn't a believable threat and, worst of all, he has an annoying habit of making wrestling seem, well, dull. With that in mind, it's hardly surprising that the majority of the Universal Championship match was a plodding affair during which Corbin continued to beat down the injured champion (while also yelling at the referee) and, despite Rollins' best efforts, he just wasn't able to elevate the match. As a result, the whole thing stayed in the same dull place.

Now, it's well-documented how talented WWE's roster is, so it goes without saying that there is a who's who line-up of stars that could have worked far better with the champion than Corbin did (Shinsuke Nakamura, AJ Styles and Samoa Joe to name a few) and, more to the point, given Super ShowDown the stronger, better and all-round entertaining opening match that it really needed.

Yet, for some reason, WWE continues to showcase the 'Lone Wolf', regardless of how he performs in the ring and, unfortunately, it's looking like Corbin's unnecessary push will continue into the summer.
