7 Mistakes WWE Have Already Made With The Shield’s Reunion
1. Not Capitalising On The Surprise Element
People now know it's only a matter of time before Roman Reigns rejoins Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins as The Shield. The surprise element has been washed away by WWE's booking; unlike when the group crash-landed on the roster at Survivor Series 2012 and laid waste to everyone, there's no mystery there.
On top of that, Reigns has been smirking when asked about a Shield reunion and was not part of the initial get-together in August. Now, instead of all three members coming across as equals, WWE are not-so-subtly telling fans that Roman is the biggest star of the trio and will reform The Shield when he's good and ready. The aura has vanished.
Fans will still pop when The Shield come together again, even if it's only a short-term thing, but wouldn't it have been better to see it happen organically? Ambrose and Rollins should exist as a tag-team aligned only to stop Sheamus and Cesaro from bragging about being 'The Bar'.
Then, when they are joined by Reigns without warning, some shock factor would still be possible.
