7 Most Insane Things Happening In Wrestling Right Now (March 3)

4. Another WrestleMania Match Might Not Actually Happen

The heavily rumoured Big Show vs. Shaquille 'Neal match at WrestleMania 33, teased (nominally) at WrestleMania 32, might literally be off the cards.

It was Show who first dampened the non-existent fire when he spoke with WWE.com. Show accused Shaq of singing karaoke, shopping at Krispy Kreme and generally not taking his conditioning seriously enough - essentially, doing what Big Show has done for his entire multi-decade career, bar the last few months or so.

Shaq was adamant that he wasn't at fault, but did confirm on his own podcast that the match is "probably not going to happen". He absolved himself of blame. "Oh, it ain’t my fault. It don’t matter what they say. It has nothing to do with the Diesel and his management." Quite what Kevin Nash has got to do with all this is anybody's guess. Maybe Shaq has confused himself with the other man WWE fans least wish to see showcased in a singles match at 'Mania.

If this recent exchange is a work, and plans haven't changed, then the promotional tactic is boneheaded in the extreme. Nobody - WWE fans or NBA fans - fancies it as an attraction. It's a match few wish to actually see - so building hopes up for it not happening doesn't make one iota of sense. If the development is legit, I hope the irony isn't lost on Big Show, a man who has spent the majority of his career in poor physical condition. His match with Braun Strowman on RAW last week was an aberration. Show should have had a far better career than he has.

Perhaps if he treated title matches with the same degree of seriousness than a novelty publicity grab, he wouldn't have needed it in the first place.
