7 Terrible Wrestling Gimmicks That SOMEHOW Got Over
6. Luchasaurus
As it emerged as a new federation, All Elite Wrestling was considered the antidote to the daft ridiculousness being shot out of Vince McMahon's anus and into our eyeballs in the late 2010s by WWE. It promised and delivered a more sports-based approach to wrestling by offering something considerably less daft than Nikki A.S.H. and Shorty G.
Completely contradictory to this were Jurassic Express, one of the most over acts in all of AEW. 'Jungle Boy' Jack Perry wore a loincloth and beat his chest, but he looked positively normal next to his tag team partner, Luchasaurus. As the name implies, one half of one of AEW's most popular tag teams was an actual dinosaur who didn't speak except to say "BLAAAAAAH" a lot.
Whether it was their natural charisma as a team or the excellence of 'Tarzan Boy' by Baltimora getting people dancing in the aisles, nobody stopped to say, "Hold on, The Young Bucks are competing against a caveman and a dinosaur?!?" They just enjoyed the excellent action the team provided and thought it was fine that they were in the same division as Kenny Omega and 'Hangman' Adam Page.
