7 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE Extreme Rules 2021
5. Big Starting
A six-man tag set up on the pre-show brought Bobby Lashley together with former Raw Tag Team Champions AJ Styles and Omos in order to keep The New Day's euphoric reunion train on the tracks and set up the inevitable rematch between 'The All Mighty' and Big E.
To this end, it was massively successful. But that would undermine just how loaded it was with other stuff to love.
Xavier Woods was awesome as usual in epic exchanges with Lashley and AJ Styles having saved Kofi Kingston in the first of two awesome hot tags - and what a display from the WWE Champion that was when the second one hit. E swinging for Omos felt like money, the "New Day Rocks" chant he summoned for an attempted Big Ending was loud and unanimous, and the well-delayed brawl between the former and current Raw titleholder felt major before AJ Styles f*cked it all up with a heel miscommunication.
New Day were better on the night, E beat Big Bobby again, and fans loved the lot of it. 2021 had beaten 2020's show within one match.
