7 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE Extreme Rules 2021
3. Good, But Not The One
A weird build - the Alexa Bliss character doesn't get a chance to have a normal one - threatened to undermine this Raw Women's Championship match until a go-home promo that finally got to the point of something a little purer.
Flair wanted Bliss to find the wrestler underneath the stupid gimmick, and she mostly got what she asked for. This was a hard fought battle with the expressed purpose of forcing Alexa's character into making a choice. Countering and outwrestling the Champion before refusing to lay down, Bliss was suddenly looking completely without a weakness. Then her opponent picked up her toy doll for like five seconds and totally threw her off.
A real sh*tter, that, and there's more on it elsewhere in the article. The women deserve an awful amount of credit for assembling something so strong before the weak finish they knew full well would tank it all.
